MAYAA NEPAL is a government recognized charity created in 2011 by SarbendraPachhai and Nicole Sicard; registered in 2012. Both of them noticing an alarming statistic: in the poor districts, less than half of the children attend school. Most of them are sent out to work.
The main objective that they set themselves was to offer the children of 5 slum districts in the outskirts of Kathmandu the chance of going to school. Besides education, their aim is also to accompany the families both socially and medically in order to break the vicious circle of misery and poverty.
MAYAA NEPAL has now a team of 6 people including social workers and medical staff in Kathmandu (and soon a dedicated center), working to identify and help those most in need through 4 major actions: Education, Health, Family protection, and Counseling
To give an opportunity for vulnerable children in Nepal to attain a quality education, provide health care services and empower women from disadvanteged communities. To enable all to be capable of positive transformation for a brighter future.
